City Girls

She said rain it never comes down here Lately its been rainin’ in my mind

Been runnin like an old sedan

These times are killin me

I’m just killin time

Summer just don’t feel the same

when summer just won’t leave this place alone

I ask her how she’s doin tonight-

As if it isn’t obvious she’s gone

She says come on give me something - I haven’t heard before

cause I'm tired of predicting what you came to this bar for

She says you country boys must be so leathered by your instincts

I know that you might think I’m somethin else

but I think you better leave with someone else

She talks about her day job

She talks about her evenings on the town

She says she wants to leave here

Still waiting on her luck to turn around

Born in Idaho

But hadn't gone back home in quite awhile

Cuz there’s memories that live there that have haunted her ever since she was a child

She says “Come on give me something - I haven’t felt before

cause I'm tired of the surface looking nothing like the core

I say you city girls must be so leathered by your dreamin

I know that you might think I’m someone else

But I’d really like to walk you home myself

Be it destiny

But honestly

why not you, why not me

Heart and soul

Rock and roll

Filling in the blanks

As we go
